Welcome to the debut of this blog / newsletter, which will be an account of my year+ ramping up to sabbatical, my year on sabbatical, and at least some amount of time transitioning back into my job.
Let’s get into it!
Last month I applied for my second sabbatical. Now, my spring semester has ended, and I spend much of my free time dreaming about how to maximize the year that doesn’t even start for another 15 months. For now I’ve just been gathering the proverbial supplies: Every blog, book, and podcast about sabbatical I can get my hands on.
Here’s what I’m engaging with so far:
Dr. Bethany Wilinski’s Sabbatical 101 podcast, where each episode is an interview with an academic sabbatical-taker
Dr. Liz Delia’s 5-day guided experience for planning @ Sabbatical Studio
What else would you add to this list?
Thanks for reading so far. If it’s relevant to your own career/sabbatical, I hope you stick around on this journey of mine.

Just an FYI that my posts are never written with AI. I love writing, and I always want my writing to flow from my own brain, even if there’s a chance it could be “better” with the help of LLMs.
